Love Don't Live Here Anymore

Today at lunch, I picked Jess up to venture way out in Southwest Little Rock to the community center. We were on a mission to register our volleyball team in the co-ed Winter/Spring league.  Sometimes we tend to get each other into "predicaments" (which is an entire blog in itself) so we decided it would be best to go together. :) On the way back we stopped at Sonic for a quick lunch in the car. Thank you Jess Brown for buying!

Here is said lunch consisting of tater tots and chicken sandwiches.

As I was driving her back to her clinic, we got into somewhat of a heated discussion. Leading to the blog title. Of course neither one of us ever thinks that we are the one in the wrong...comma however this time I am going to leave my fate of right or wrongness up to my blog readers...SO please everyone comment on this.  We started the discussion on beans. She asked me what kind of beans I like (not quite discussing the importance of Shakespeare but important none the less). I said i like green beans, brown beans, and peas. She immediately exclaimed, "A pea is NOT a bean, if it were a bean then it would be called a pean"! My rebuttal was that a pea comes in a shell, therefore, classifying it as a bean. And of course we are still arguing about this! Just glad we had this "discussion" after she bought lunch! ha

So help me out here blog readers...
DOES THE PEA STAND IN ITS OWN CATEGORY OR IS IT, IN FACT, A PEAN???

Well.. um.. let's see.... I agree with Krista's Logic. Peas are in a shell. True. Therefore you would think that they are part of the bean family. And I agree with Jess's pean term.. which I think i might try and work into a conversation... so I think you each got a point and that's all I'm saying! lol

Technically, it is classified as a botanical fruit.
I have to say pean is absolutely, positively, my new favorite word.

a pea is as much as a "bean" as jess's definition of a bean, but beans (AND peas) are actually classified as legumes. so, krista, i hate to say this, but i think you are right!

heather, you so googled that whole "botanical fruit" business.

as much as i would like to give KK a point here, i am going to have to go with jess. a pea ain't a bean.

although i like the word "pean" as well...

I have never put much thought to it, but have always believed peas to be peas and beans to be beans...sorry KK.

Ok…technically you are both wrong. Without some snooping I would have said that peas aren’t beans but in the same family. Following a quick search, I can say I was right – a pea is a pea, a bean is a bean and they are both in the legume family.

So is a tomato a fruit or a vegetable?

I retract my previous post. What I meant to say was:

Krista your logic is brilliant! I don't know anyone who would not side with you. You, as always, are right!

heather googles as much as me, i love it.

i believe the count is at kk-3, jess-2...
For those of you who remain neutral or on jess' side, shame on you! All others, you a brilliant and i love you! :)

I am going to try to put it as the poll question on ktlo.com tomorrow...Dad is out of town, so I might get away with it.

OK... so KK is so worried that she is wrong that she is obviously having to strum up people to vote for her. Its sad really, but when you can only score 27 points in warm up... well, lets just say that you gotta do something! KTLO will give us the true answer!

I have been informed that I MUST respond and MUST agree that a pea is a botanical fruit. I have completed my obligation.

I think a pea is a pea. We have green peas and we have green beans. I asked my friend who is a dietician and she said that they are in the same category , but when she has to talk to a patient about what not to eat in the category she tells them no beans and no peas. I think they are different. Sorry KK !

You only said that because Jess MADE you!!! Ask Maeley, i bet she will side with KK!!! :)
And Chris, nice try..
And Jess, I would like to know if you have ever scored 27 points in warm up?? didn't think so! :)
